Have I mentioned latey that my kids LOVE harvesting our vegetables? It is so exciting to see them eagerly pick(sometimes a little too much) the vegetables ready for harvesting. Lately we have been enjoying the first harvest of our first growing season with the new garden beds (thanks to the hard work and amazing knowledge of Simple Growth Gardens). I am SO excited to see what the future holds for our beautiful garden!

My children helped plant the seeds and enjoyed getting muddy with friends aong the way.
I dont think my city kids had any clue what was about to happen. They weren’t nearly as excited as me when the fist green sprout popped up out of the dirt…and respectively they weren’t nearly as impatient as me while waiting for it to grow and be mature enough to harvest. I am the true epitomy of an impatient gardener… heck, that’s a good blog name. HA!
Anyway, I tried to entertain myself with documenting every step of the growing process, that entertained me at the time and has been so neat to look back on now.
We watched the Green beans go through such turmoil… they grew so strong in the greenhouse and stretched their little beautiful feelers to the sky:
Then they narrowly survived a crazy wild rabbit attack… we doctored up the garden beds with some bird netting and wooden stakes and WA-LA the green beans could grow unharmed.
They grew and grew for what seemed like forever! And then suddenly one day I checked the garden and saw this:
Okay, maybe it wasn’t suddenly, but the leaves were so big and green and healthy. Then I noticed little blossoms and happy bees coming to and from the pant… I knew it wouldnt be much longer that I would find delicious green beans hiding beneath the lucious leaves!

They were SOOO delicious. I barely got any of them back to the house before the girls ate them all.
*crunch*crunch*crunch*giggle*giggle*giggle*
was all I heard from behind me as we picked. They had a blast.
Our other garden bed full of Kale, Swiss Chard and Bok Choy went from this:

And we had the same problem here… we had wild rabbits enjoy a little too much of our kale and Bok Choy before it coud mature. Thankfully we got the netting up and it suddenly blossomed into this:
It is SO beautiful and wonderful to see FULL of big green HEALTHY plants. Let me also note that we do not use ANY pesticides chemicles enhancers or ANYTHING in our garden to increase growth or kill pests. This is all natural, all organic …. and a whole lotta LUCK.
Every Garden Bed is FULL an thriving! I am so blessed and proud to own this garden! It couln’t have been possible without the help of great friends whose knowledge supercees my own and whose skills put me to shame. Not to mention amazing friends who are willing to come visit regularly and voluntarily put in hours of manual labor… I can’t even get my KIDS to vounteer to work on the farm!

Our time Harvesting has been such a joy and a wonderful family experience. The girls love (a little too much) picking fresh produce right from the garden. They dont have to wash it because they certaintly dont mind a little dirt, and they eat more vegetables straight from the ground than they do from their dinner plates.
